The most important aspect of each workshop is the kiln. Given the lack of efficient firing methods in Mexico, we implemented a program based on the Smokeless Wood Kiln workshop, taught by Japanese master Masakazu Kusakabe (1946-2023) at the National School of Ceramics in 2017.
Kusakabe's model was adapted to the needs of national ceramics by engineer Yusuke Suzuki, an academic at the ENC.
These kilns improve the production conditions for artisans and promote tradition, creativity, and development, encouraging new generations to continue this craft.
The Kiln Program —which has become essential for Mexican pottery— has been strengthened thanks to the financial support of various partners.
